Plugins

Plugins lists the free plugins on the Godot Asset Store that fit the project you have open, and installs one into it when you press Install. Terrain, sky, water, weather and character controllers come from plugins.

Opening Plugins

Open the project menu (the project’s name at the top of the chat) and choose Plugins…. The panel opens in place of the chat, and Esc or Close goes back to it.

Search the Godot Asset Store from the search field, sort by Top rated, Recently updated or Name, and filter by one of the Store’s tags. "terrain", "sky", "water", "dialogue", "state machine" or "character controller" are good first searches.

What the list shows

Only plugins that fit this project are listed. Each release on the Store is checked on the Godot that Flockbay runs, on this platform: its archive is read and its scripts are loaded. The list then leaves out what would clash with the project, such as a folder in addons/ that already holds another plugin or a class_name your game already uses.

What is left out is counted above the list, for example "12 hidden on this game". Click it for the reasons: needs a newer or an older Godot, its scripts don’t load on this Godot, its GDExtension has no Windows build, C# only on a build with no .NET, not a plugin (asset packs, templates and demos), and the rest.

Plugins already in the project are listed first, under Installed, and the rest under Fits this game. A plugin you copied in yourself shows as Installed outside Flockbay.

Reading a card

Each card has the plugin’s name, review score and publisher, with a check mark for a verified publisher on the Store, then one line with its license, version, kind (GDScript, C# or Native GDExtension) and "runs in the editor". Hover that line for the Godot versions it supports, its release date and whether its scripts load on Flockbay’s Godot.

Under it, the card says what installing it changes: the autoloads and input actions it adds, "Copyleft license: check its terms before you ship a game with it" for a GPL-family license, and "Needs C#: Flockbay adds a C# solution first" for a C# plugin in a GDScript project. Every plugin runs code inside the Godot editor. View source and Store page open the plugin’s repository and its Asset Store page in your browser.

Install, Update and Remove

  1. Press Install on the card. The app downloads the release from the Godot Asset Store, checks its SHA-256 against the one the list was read from, and copies only its plugin folders into the project, under res://addons/.
  2. The plugin is enabled in the editor open on the project, as Project Settings › Plugins enables it, and the toast says what that added, such as an autoload. With no editor open on the project, it is enabled the next time the project opens in the Godot editor.
  3. If Godot or the C# build refuses to enable it, the files stay in and the card says why, in Godot’s words.

Each install, update and removal is a turn in the chat with its own line. Undo on the toast, or on that line, takes it back.

Updating and removing a plugin

When the Store has a newer release, the installed card shows "<version> available" and Update to <version>, which takes the old version out and installs the new one.

Remove disables the plugin, takes out what enabling it added to project.godot, and deletes its files and the folders it leaves empty. A plugin installed outside Flockbay can be removed the same way.

Plugins and the AI

When a game needs a system a plugin already does well, such as dialogue, a state machine or behavior tree, a camera rig or saving, Flockbay can search the Store for plugins that fit the project and suggest one in its reply, with a link to its Store page. Install… beside that link opens Plugins on it, where you read the card and press Install. Flockbay never installs a plugin itself.

Once a plugin is installed, Flockbay can enable or disable it, as Project Settings › Plugins does, and write the nodes and scripts that use it. Your own agent connected over MCP gets the same search and switch.

In the Full editor view, Godot’s own Asset Store tab is there too. A plugin installed from it shows in Plugins as Installed outside Flockbay.
