The best website builders for game developers
2 min read

Most indie games need one page: the trailer, a Steam wishlist button, screenshots, a press kit link and an email signup. One-page builders such as Carrd do that quickly; full builders such as Wix, Squarespace and WordPress suit a studio site with a blog; static hosting such as GitHub Pages or Cloudflare Pages suits developers who write HTML; an itch.io page can double as a site. Flockbay lets any AI build the site from the game itself and publishes it on flockbay.app.
Your game needs a page, not a website project
A game's website has one job: turn a visitor who heard of the game into a wishlist or a newsletter signup, and give press what they need. That is one good page. The builder matters less than getting that page up and keeping it current.
The options
- One-page builders (Carrd and similar): fast, cheap, good templates; limited beyond one page.
- Full site builders (Wix, Squarespace): more pages, a blog, more cost and more upkeep.
- WordPress: anything is possible, including the maintenance.
- Static hosting (GitHub Pages, Cloudflare Pages, Netlify): free or cheap, fast, for developers who write HTML or use a generator.
- itch.io: a game page that can stand in for a site, with its own downloads.
- Flockbay: any AI builds a static site from your game's own material into the game folder; publish it on your game's flockbay.app address.
What to look for
- A page you can update in minutes when the trailer or date changes.
- Embeds for your trailer and the Steam widget.
- An email signup that stores consent.
- Fast on a phone: most visitors arrive from social links.
Where Flockbay fits
In Flockbay, Flockbay's AI or your own Claude or ChatGPT builds the site as static HTML, CSS and JavaScript from your game's own trailer, screenshots and copy, into the game's website folder. Building, previewing and the .zip export are free on every account; publishing on flockbay.app is a paid feature, free in beta until 1 December 2026. Email signups are stored with proof of consent for you to export; Flockbay never mails your list.
