The best Godot MCP server in 2026 depends on what you want the agent to touch

Flockbay is free on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan. Claude Pro or Max, or ChatGPT Plus or higher, builds a real Godot project in the Godot editor. Claude Free and ChatGPT Free do not run here. More models are optional, a credit reload at API prices. The best Godot MCP server for most people, as of 29 Sep 2026, is godot-ai if you want it free and open in your own editor, and GDAI MCP if you would rather pay $19 once for polish. Coding-Solo's godot-mcp is the simplest start and the most starred. Flockbay is the pick when you want your agent and an AI game maker's world tools on the same game. Here is every server with real use, one verdict each.

The best Godot MCP server, in one line each

godot-ai: the best free one. MIT licensed, runs in your own Godot 4.7 editor, takes screenshots and plays timed input events.

Coding-Solo's godot-mcp: the simplest start. Free, MIT, one npx command; it runs the game and reads the errors, with no pictures or input.

GDAI MCP: the polished paid plugin. $19 once, Godot 4.2 and later, with pictures, input and the debugger.

Godot MCP Pro: the most tools. $15 once, Godot 4.4 and later, over 160 tools by its own count.

satelliteoflove's godot-mcp: built for play-testing. Free, MIT, Godot 4.5 and later, and it can freeze and step game time.

Summer Engine's MCP: free and MIT, but it drives Summer's own engine app rather than your Godot editor.

Ziva: an agent inside the Godot editor that can also serve its tools to Claude Code, Codex and others, on plans from free to $200 a month.

Flockbay: free with an account, Windows only today. Your agent gets the Godot editor, the running game, and world tools for terrain, water, sky, weather, the player controller and props.

Four abilities decide which Godot MCP server you need

Every Godot MCP server says it lets an agent control Godot. The useful question is which of four things it lets the agent do: edit the project, run the game and read its errors, see the game, and play it. A server that only edits leaves you as the agent's eyes and hands. One that does all four lets it check its own work before it tells you it is done.

Then three costs: money, whether you can read the source, and setup, which runs from one command to a plugin, a build step and a config file.

The table at the end has all of it, read from each project's own pages on 29 Sep 2026. GitHub stars and npm downloads stand in for real use here. They measure attention, not quality.

Coding-Solo's godot-mcp is where most people start

It has 5,869 GitHub stars, the most of any Godot MCP server checked for this post, and its npm package was downloaded 4,679 times in the week to 27 Sep. It is MIT licensed and installs with one command. It launches the editor, runs the project in debug mode, captures the output and errors, creates scenes and adds nodes.

What it does not do is look or play: there is no screenshot or input tool in its list. Its last npm release, 0.1.1, came out in February 2026. Verdict: the right first server, and the right one to keep if your agent only needs to run the game and read what went wrong.

godot-ai is the strongest free Godot MCP server

godot-ai, from the hi-godot project, is MIT licensed, has 2,673 stars and was updated on 29 Sep. It is a plugin for your own Godot 4.7 or later editor with a small Python server beside it, and its dock writes the config for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and others.

It covers 46 tools and over 120 operations: scenes, nodes, scripts, signals, materials, animation, tests, game and editor logs, pictures of the editor and of the running game, and timed key, mouse and gamepad sequences into the game. Verdict: if you want it free and open, in the editor you already have, start here.

GDAI MCP is the polished paid plugin

It costs $19 once, with updates, for Godot 4.2 and later on Windows, macOS and Linux, and it is closed source. It edits scenes, scripts and node properties, runs the game, reads the debugger, takes screenshots of the editor and the running game, and simulates key and input-action events. Setup is a plugin in your project and a line in your client's config.

Verdict: the one to buy if you want it to just work, including on an older 4.x project, and closed source does not bother you.

Godot MCP Pro has the most tools, which cuts both ways

It costs $15 once. Its store page counts 163 tools and its website 187, from animation trees and particles to navigation, shaders and profiling, plus game screenshots, key and mouse simulation, and errors with stack traces. It needs Godot 4.4 or later. Its editor plugin's source is on GitHub; the server that talks to your agent is sold closed. Setup means copying the plugin, building the server with npm and adding it to your client's config.

Verdict: the widest reach. The breadth is also the risk, because models choose worse from long tool lists and spend context reading them. Its editor panel lets you switch tools off one by one, and you should.

satelliteoflove's godot-mcp is built for play-testing

Free, MIT licensed, 171 stars, Godot 4.5 or later. Its 21 tools lean on one idea, letting the agent verify its own work. It can freeze the game clock and step exact slices of game time with input riding inside them, read live game state as JSON, take pictures, and run GDScript inside the running game to set up a test. It deliberately leaves out what an agent can already do by editing files.

Verdict: the most careful play-testing design of the free servers.

Three more Godot MCP servers with real use

tugcantopaloglu's godot-mcp is a fork of Coding-Solo's that grows it to 157 tools, including game pictures, held keys, mouse drags, gamepad and touch input, and C# projects. Free, MIT, 468 stars, Godot 4.4 or later; you clone and build it, and its runtime tools need an autoload in your game.

tomyud1's godot-mcp is free, MIT and has 434 stars. It installs from Godot's own Asset Library and has its own undo tool, because its changes do not go through the editor's Ctrl+Z.

GoPeak is free, MIT and has 261 stars: an edit, run, inspect and fix loop that also uses Godot's language server and debugger, with pictures and input through a runtime add-on.

Two early Godot MCP servers have gone quiet

ee0pdt's Godot-MCP has 616 stars and no push since March 2025, and bradypp's godot-mcp none since May 2025. Both were early, and both are still linked from lists.

Check the last commit before you install any server. Godot moves fast, and a server written against an older 4.x can trip over the version you run.

Summer Engine's MCP drives Summer, not your editor

Summer Engine's server is free and MIT licensed, and one command sets it up for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and nine other clients. Its tools reach deep: scenes, scripts, play and debug, runtime input, probes and screenshots, and cloud generation of images, 3D models, audio and video on credits.

The catch is what it drives: Summer's own desktop engine, which Summer describes as compatible with Godot 4, not the Godot editor you already have. Its paid plans are $20, $60 and $200 a month, and its MCP skills and hooks come with the $60 plan and up. Verdict: strong if you are moving to Summer, and not a server for your own Godot.

Ziva serves its Godot tools over MCP too

Ziva is an agent inside the Godot editor, 4.2 and up, on a proprietary licence. It can also run as a local MCP server, so Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, Zed, Cline and others can inspect the scene tree, edit nodes, scenes, scripts and resources, read Godot's errors, and run and stop the game.

Its MCP page does not say which plan that needs, and it lists no pictures or input. Plans run from a free Hobby plan with $3 of AI use a month to Basic, Pro and Ultra at $20, $50 and $200 a month. Verdict: worth it if you want Ziva's own agent in the editor as well.

Flockbay's slot: your agent and an AI game maker on the same game

Flockbay is a free AI game maker built on Godot, and its desktop app serves one MCP server, flockbay-stage, free with a Flockbay account. Your agent gets the open Godot editor with one Ctrl+Z per change; the running game, to playtest with timed input events, viewport captures and the live scene tree; and world tools no other server here has, for terrain, water, sky, weather, the player controller and props. Its work lands in its own chat, beside Flockbay's own AI working on the same game.

The limits are real. It runs on Windows only today, needs the app open with your game and an internet connection, works on the Godot 4.7.2 inside the app rather than your own install, and is closed source. Setup is one line the app writes for you, and the Godot MCP guide has it for every agent.

How to pick a Godot MCP server

You want it free, open and in your own editor: godot-ai. You want the least to install: Coding-Solo's godot-mcp. You want to pay once and be done: GDAI MCP, or Godot MCP Pro for more tools. You want an agent that tests with exact timing: satelliteoflove's godot-mcp. You already build in Summer or Ziva: use theirs.

You want your agent and an AI game maker working on one real Godot project, with world tools and a builder in the editor, on Windows: Flockbay.

If your agent flounders with any of them, try fewer, higher-level tools before trying more.

A Godot MCP server acts on your machine

An MCP server lets an agent act on your computer. Install servers from sources you trust, read what their tools can do, prefer ones that keep to the project folder, and commit before each session.

Flockbay's connection stays on until you press Turn off, and it reaches only the game open in the app. Whatever server you use, remove access you no longer use.
