One block, not the whole catalogue of cities

The models named building come from four different cities and a hex grid. City Kit Commercial is a run of lettered blocks and five skyscrapers. Suburban and Industrial are houses and sheds in two other dialects. Modular Buildings is a kit of pieces you assemble, forty-eight of them on this page alone. Hexagon Kit contributes eighteen hexagonal buildings, which will not sit on a square street without a gap you can drive a car through. Mini Forest adds three small ones that are scenery, not a downtown.

A city builder lives or dies on one readable block: a street, a corner, a building the player can tell from its neighbour. That is the city-building landing page and the AI city builder page as well. The genre guide lists them with the simulations. The wider set, including the roads and the walls that are not named building, is the city collection. The hex pieces also belong to the modular tiles, which is where their grid is explained.

What to change first is the ground plan, not the façade. Pick one kit — commercial blocks if you want a downtown, suburban if you want houses, hex if you want a colony — and do not import a second until the first block has a street in front of it. The skyscrapers are a skyline, and a skyline behind a single block is a picture. A skyline instead of a block is a backdrop you cannot enter. Doorways and floors live in the modular kit; the lettered commercial buildings are more like finished shells.
