Gameplay shorts for TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Reels: one moment, filmed upright, opened three ways

By Eduardo Orellana · Updated

Yes: an AI can make TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Reels clips of your game from the game itself. In the Flockbay app, Video studio has the built-in AI, or your own Claude, ChatGPT or MCP agent, find the one moment of your Godot game that reads with no context, film it upright at 1080x1920 with the game's own camera, and cut up to three narrated shorts of 15 to 45 seconds that differ only in their opening hook: a statement, a question and a number. Text stays clear of each platform's buttons, every short gets a cover and a post caption, and TikTok posting is built in. Ziva cuts 10 to 15 second clips from your runs on its $50-a-month Pro plan, and OpusClip and CapCut clip a video you upload.

Three shorts of Walker, as Video studio rendered them

One run, one moment, three hooks. Each short is 1080x1920 and about 28 seconds, narrated in Idris, one of the voices Video studio comes with, with no music. They are the files the run wrote, unedited.

Short A opens on a statement: every footstep here is a raycast, not an animation.
Short B opens on a question: how does a six-legged machine keep its balance?
Short C opens on a number: 6 legs, and 3 always on the ground.

Three openings on one walk, and the audience picks the winner

Walker is a six-legged machine crossing a canyon toward a beacon, built in the Flockbay app. Asked for shorts, Video studio played it, filmed one stretch of it striding through a boulder field, and cut that take three times. Short A opens on a statement: "Every footstep here is a raycast, not an animation." Short B asks a question: "How does a six-legged machine keep its balance?" Short C leads with a number: "6 legs, and 3 always on the ground."

After the hook, all three are the same walk and the same narration about how it works: the legs move in two tripods, so three feet are always planted, each foot finds the ground with a ray, and the hull rides on a heavy spring. The run, on Claude Code inside the app, took about five minutes from the request to three rendered files.

The point of three is the opening. A viewer decides in the first seconds whether to keep watching, so the hook is the one variable worth testing. Post all three and keep the one that holds viewers longest.

A short is one moment a stranger understands in two seconds

The AI reads the game before it films anything: the main scene and its scene tree, the player's script, the input map, and the chat that built the game. Then it plays it in a Play, looking at screenshots and reading values from the running game, to find one moment that reads with no context. A jump that barely lands, a truck cresting a hill or a door opening onto something counts. A menu, a tutorial or a walk across flat ground does not.

When you say what to show, the moment is in that. Walker's request said "Show the walker walking normally", so the short is the walk.

Filmed upright by the game's camera, not cropped out of a widescreen recording

Cropping a 16:9 recording to 9:16 at the same height throws away about two thirds of the frame, and often the subject with it. Video studio films the moment at 1080x1920 instead, in a copy of your game, so your project is not touched. A 3D camera keeps its vertical field of view and loses the sides, a 2D camera shows more above and below, and the HUD keeps its anchors.

It plays the game on the game's own input actions, the way a player's controller does. Walker read W, A, S and D straight off the keyboard, so the AI added four input actions on the same keys and switched walker.gd to read them before it filmed the take you see. The HUD shows the walk: the distance to the beacon drops from 139 m to 59 m over the take.

A take can be staged to frame the moment: the camera pulled back, the HUD moved out of a corner, the player set at the ledge. Staging never adds a mechanic the game does not have, and no hook, line or caption calls a staged moment play.

Text stays out from under the buttons TikTok, YouTube and Instagram draw

Every platform draws its own buttons, username and caption over the bottom and right of a vertical video. Text burned into a short stays inside what all three leave clear: Meta's published figures for Reels, and readings of TikTok's and YouTube's own templates. The hook stays on screen for at least two seconds and for as long as it is being said, in 60 characters or fewer, and the narration runs as word-by-word captions with its key words picked out.

Each short is rendered on your computer into Videos > Flockbay > your game, with a cover picture, and the AI writes the post's caption for each platform. The narration comes from Video studio's voices, which are included and not taken from your AI usage, or from your own ElevenLabs voice, and a music bed can run under it.

TikTok posting is built in, and Shorts and Reels are one upload

Add to Social posts turns the shorts into drafts. With a saved Flockbay account, connect TikTok and post publicly, or send them to your TikTok drafts and pick the audience in the TikTok app. TikTok takes at most 15 posts a day per account.

For YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels, upload the MP4 yourself. It is already 9:16, under a minute and clear of both platforms' buttons.

Where it stops

It films GDScript games. A C# game gets an answer that says how to film it by hand instead.

One run makes up to three shorts of one moment; another moment is another run. It runs on Flockbay's hosted AI, or on your own Claude or ChatGPT signed in inside the app, or your own agent over MCP. The Flockbay app runs on Windows and Linux, and the Mac build is an earlier release.

And it shows the game as it is. A moment the game cannot produce is not filmed, so a short is only as good as the best twenty seconds your game already has.

When another option beats Flockbay

Clips while you build, with no request at all: Ziva makes a batch after every three game runs, on its $50-a-month Pro plan.

A long video you already have, such as a stream or a devlog, cut into many shorts: OpusClip or CapCut, which work on any footage from any engine.

A game made in Unity, Unreal or GameMaker: Video studio films Godot projects, so record the footage yourself and clip it with OpusClip or CapCut.

Every cut by hand: Video studio writes plain MP4 files and covers, and nothing stops you re-editing them.

Questions

Can AI make TikToks of my game?
Yes. In the Flockbay app, Video studio has the built-in AI, or your own Claude, ChatGPT or MCP agent, play your Godot game, film one moment upright at 1080x1920, voice it and cut up to three 15 to 45 second shorts, each opening on a different hook. With a saved account it posts to TikTok, publicly or to your drafts.
How long should a gameplay short be?
Video studio cuts 15 to 45 seconds: room for a hook and one idea, short enough to watch to the end. The Walker shorts run about 28 seconds each.
Why make three versions of the same clip?
Because the first seconds decide whether anyone watches the rest. The three shorts share the footage and the narration and differ only in the hook, a statement, a question and a number, so posting all three tells you which opening holds viewers longest.
Can I make a vertical clip of my game without cropping it?
Yes. Video studio films the moment at 1080x1920 with the game's own camera, in a copy of your project: a 3D camera keeps its vertical field of view and loses the sides, a 2D camera shows more above and below. Cropping a 16:9 recording instead throws away about two thirds of the frame.
Does it post to YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels?
Flockbay posts to TikTok. For YouTube Shorts and Reels you upload the MP4 yourself; it is 9:16, under a minute, and its text is kept clear of both platforms' buttons.
Is it free?
Video studio is free in beta for every account until December 1. After that it is a paid feature, and every account still makes one free video. It runs on Flockbay's hosted AI, or on your own Claude, ChatGPT or agent over MCP, and its voices and music bed are included without touching your AI usage.
