How Steam decides "More like this"

Steam's "More like this" section, and its search for similar games, use each game's top 20 tags. Valve says overlap across several tags matters more than their order, and rarer tags carry more weight than common ones, so a generic tag like "Action" does little. To appear beside the games your players love, share their specific tags, and check your own page's More like this row: if it shows the wrong games, your tags are telling Steam the wrong story.

Your More like this row is a report card on your tags

Scroll to the More like this row on your own store page. Those are the games Steam thinks yours resembles, and the games beside which yours will appear. If they are your comparables, your tags work. If they are not, fix the tags first.

How it matches, per Valve

  • It uses the top 20 tags of each game.
  • Overlap across several tags matters more than their order.
  • Rarer tags count more than common ones.
  • Tag weights come from developers' ordering and from how many players apply each tag.

How to get beside the right games

  1. List five to ten games you want to sit beside.
  2. Note the specific tags they share: sub-genres, mechanics, moods.
  3. Make sure your game truly has those, and put them in your top tags.
  4. Remove inaccurate player tags.
  5. Check the row again after a few days.

Where Flockbay fits

Flockbay's Steam page reads three to five comparable games on their own store pages and drafts your tags from what they share, most defining first, for you to check. Drafting is free in beta until 1 December 2026.
