How to run Reddit ads for a game

Reddit's strength for games is targeting by community: you can show ads to people who follow the subreddits of your genre and of the games yours resembles. Promoted posts look like posts and get comments, so use a GIF or short clip with an honest title, leave comments on and reply to them. Send traffic to the Steam page, and judge results on extra wishlists in Steamworks.
Your audience already has an address
On most platforms you guess at interests. On Reddit, the people who like roguelikes are subscribed to roguelike communities, and you can target them directly.
Setting up
- A traffic campaign to your Steam page.
- Community targeting: your genre's and your comparables' subreddits.
- Several creatives: GIFs, short clips, a strong screenshot.
- Comments on, and reply to them.
What works
Titles that sound like a developer, not a brand; the same clip that did well in an organic post; honesty about what the game is.
