How to run TikTok ads for a game

TikTok ads work for games when they look like ordinary TikToks: vertical, sound on, gameplay in the first second, captions on screen. The simplest start is boosting a post that already did well organically, either through Promote or as a Spark Ad in Ads Manager, which keeps the post's likes and comments. Send traffic to your Steam page, test several hooks, and judge results on extra wishlists in Steamworks.
An ad that looks like an ad gets skipped
Polished trailers underperform on TikTok; raw gameplay with a caption that asks a question does better. The ad that works is usually the clip that already worked for free.
Setting up
- Post clips organically and see which travel.
- Boost the winners as Spark Ads, or with Promote for a quick test.
- Traffic objective to your Steam page.
- Targeting by interests in gaming and your genre, or broad.
Creatives
9:16, 10 to 30 seconds, gameplay first, captions on screen, sound that suits the platform. Make several hooks per clip.
