Steam curators: what they are and how to reach them

Valve's own advice is not to judge curators by audience size alone. A curator's recommendation appears to their followers on Steam, beside your game, so a small curator whose followers play exactly your kind of game can do more than a large general one.

• Inside Steam: copies are sent through Steam itself, no keys, no emails.
• Limits: offers to up to 100 curators, up to 5 copies each (useful for multiplayer).
• Requirements: the Generate CD Keys permission, a public Coming Soon page, and an uploaded build.
• Pre-release copies are allowed.
• What curators see: a preview, your first three store screenshots, and your message.
• After: you see copies sent and accepted; an accepted copy cannot be revoked; an unaccepted offer can be expired.

Filter by the tags a curator says they focus on, language, operating system or VR. Steam's default list favours curators whose tags overlap with your game's, weighted towards more followers and more specific overlap. Curators inactive for six months are generally hidden. Read a few of each curator's recent reviews before you send: do they cover games like yours, and do they write about them?

Two or three sentences: what the game is, why their followers in particular might like it, and what is in the build. No pressure for a positive review; curators may write negative or informational reviews too, and they owe you nothing.
