How to check how many wishlists a Steam game has

Steam does not publish a game's wishlist count; only its developer sees it. You can estimate it from public data: a game's Steam followers, multiplied by about 12, is GameDiscoverCo's rule of thumb for wishlists (closer to 15 to 20 during big promotions such as Next Fest). SteamDB also ranks unreleased games by wishlist activity. Use estimates to compare games, not as exact counts.

Followers are the public shadow of wishlists

When a player follows a game on Steam, the count is public on its community hub. Far fewer players follow than wishlist, but the two move together, which makes followers the best public proxy for a number Steam keeps private.

Ways to estimate

  • Followers × 12: GameDiscoverCo's rough multiplier for wishlists; nearer × 15 to 20 during big events such as Next Fest.
  • SteamDB: shows follower counts and ranks unreleased games by wishlist activity; a rank in its top 1,000 suggests a game will reach Popular Upcoming.
  • Steam's own lists: a game on Popular Upcoming has thousands.

Using it

Estimate your comparables' wishlists before launch and their reviews after, and you have a rough picture of how wishlists turned into sales in your genre. Treat every estimate as a range.

Questions

Can you see how many wishlists another game has?
Not exactly; only its developer can. Followers × about 12 is a common public estimate.
