Physics sandbox template
One room, a few objects that have weight, and a tool to poke them. Garry's Mod (Facepunch Studios, 2006) is the toybox. Teardown (Tuxedo Labs, 2022) makes the poke destructive on purpose. People Playground (mestiez, 2019) is the consequence. Hunger, thirst and a raid are a different template. Add them only if you meant to leave. The AI sandbox game maker is the toy.

What the template starts with
The physics sandbox template starts with one room, three physics objects and one tool. That is the smallest version of the loop that defines the genre: spawn, poke, break, watch.
What to change first
Stack three objects and knock them over. They should fall the same way twice. If they teleport or freeze, you do not have a sandbox. You have a glitch with a spawn menu.
