Monster Train (Shiny Shoe, 2020) shows you a floor. Dominion (Donald X. Vaccarino, 2008) is the buy without the dragon. A card reward you cannot refuse is the interesting version. What the template starts with
The deckbuilder template starts with ten cards, one enemy and one card reward. That is the smallest version of the loop that defines the genre: play a hand, win, add a card, grow the deck.
What to change first
Add one card that clutters the deck and one that fixes a problem you had. Both should be tempting. If every reward is simply better, you are collecting, not building.
