Fallout: New Vegas (Obsidian Entertainment, 2010) is the town that remembers how you did it. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (Warhorse Studios, 2025) makes the walk to the cave the difficulty. What the template starts with
The Western RPG template starts with one village, one quest giver and one cave. That is the smallest version of the loop that defines the genre: wander, pick a quest, grow by doing.
What to change first
Finish the cave two ways, or finish it and refuse it. The village line afterwards should not be identical. A dungeon with no one to tell is an action level.
