The Story RPG template starts with one character, one conversation and one choice that matters later. That is the smallest version of the loop that defines the genre: talk, choose, fight, learn more of the story.
What to change first
Play the choice both ways and reach the later scene. If the scene is identical, the flag is a lie. Cut loot until the scene is what you remember.
