What makes Persona distinctive
Its calendar makes every afternoon a choice.
What the template starts with
The Persona style template starts with one school day with two ways to spend it, one friendship and one dungeon floor.
The day is half the game. Persona 5 (Atlus, 2016 in Japan) splits school from the dungeon, and a friendship raised after class changes what you can do that night. One afternoon, one evening, one bond that ticks. 2D or a simple schedule screen is fine. A dungeon with no calendar is just a JRPG.
What to change first
Spend the afternoon on the friendship and see the evening fight change. If you can skip every social scene and lose nothing, the calendar is a loading trick. The AI JRPG maker is the battle. The day wrapped around it is the style.
