What the template starts with
The point and click template starts with one room, two items and one puzzle that needs both. That is the smallest version of the loop that defines the genre: look, pick up, combine, use.
What to change first
Try each object on the door and watch both fail. Then combine them. If the player cannot attempt the wrong use, the puzzle is a cutscene with extra clicks.
