How to read your Steam wishlist and traffic reports

The wishlist report shows, per day, how many people added your game, deleted it, bought it from their wishlist, and gifted it. Watch net adds (adds minus deletions) and what caused each spike. The traffic report shows impressions and store page visits by source; a low visit-to-impression rate points at the capsule, and a low wishlist-to-visit rate at the page itself. SteamDB, Gamalytic, VG Insights and similar tools estimate other games' numbers for comparison.

Spikes tell you what worked

A line on a chart is only useful when you know why it moved. Note every post, festival, update and ad beside the dates, then look at which ones moved the wishlist curve.

The wishlist report

  • Adds and deletions per day; net adds is the number to watch.
  • Purchases and activations from wishlists, after launch and during sales.
  • Gifts and regional breakdowns.

Deletions rise after launch and sales as wishlisters decide; that is normal.

The traffic report

Impressions (your capsule was shown) and visits (someone opened the page), by source: Discovery Queue, search, tags, More Like This, external links. Visits divided by impressions grades your capsule; wishlists divided by visits grades your page.

Data tools

SteamDB tracks followers, prices and player counts; Gamalytic and VG Insights estimate sales and revenue from public signals. Use them for comparables, never for your own game, where Steamworks is exact.
