How to put a Construct 3 game on Steam

Construct 3 games reach Steam through the Windows WebView2 export, which wraps the game as a desktop app. Scirra's official Steamworks plugin adds user details, the Steam overlay and achievements; check its addon page for the release it needs and its Linux support. During development set your App ID in the plugin (480 if you have none yet) and tick Development mode, test the exported build with Steam running, then upload it with SteamPipe.
Export as a Windows app, then add Steam
Construct is a browser-based engine, so a Steam release is an export that wraps the game as a Windows application: the WebView2 export, built on Microsoft Edge's engine. Steam features come from Scirra's own Steamworks plugin, designed for that export.
Setup
- Add the Steamworks plugin to the project.
- Set your App ID in the plugin's properties (480, Valve's Spacewar sample, until you have one) and tick Development mode.
- Use the plugin's Is available condition before calling Steam features.
- Export with the Windows WebView2 option and run the exported game with Steam open.
- Before release: your own App ID, Development mode off.
What the plugin covers
User details, the Steam overlay and achievements. For anything beyond that, check the plugin's documentation for the current list.
