# Install on Mac

Flockbay for Mac is a signed, notarised disk image for Apple Silicon, downloaded from flockbay.com. It is the same app as on Windows: it hosts the full Godot editor and runs Claude in the app.

## Installing

On a Mac, flockbay.com offers Download for macOS. Open the disk image when it finishes, drag Flockbay into Applications, and open it from there. It is signed and notarised, so macOS opens it without asking you to override anything.

The Mac build is the same app as on Windows: it hosts the full Godot editor and runs Claude in the app, using the Claude Code you installed or installing it with Homebrew. Your own agent can connect over MCP too, and a project is a plain Godot folder you can move to a Windows or Linux machine.

## Why the download is large

Flockbay ships with its own copy of the Godot engine rather than asking you to install one. That copy is what your game runs on, and it is pinned to an exact version so that a project built today still behaves the same way later.

That is most of the size of the download. It also means the app works the moment it is installed, with nothing else to set up.

## Updates

Flockbay checks for a newer build when it opens and while it runs. If there is one, you are offered it in the app; downloading, verifying and installing happen when you accept, and the app relaunches itself to finish.

If you want to check right away, there is a "Check for updates" item in the app menu.

> The update is a full package rather than a patch, so it is a large download. If it fails, the app says "Update could not download" and offers Try again — nothing in your projects is touched either way.
