# Player controller

Player controller is where you tune how it feels to walk around your world. Flockbay sets these numbers; this panel is for changing them by hand.

## What it controls

Pick Player controller in the tool column and the player’s settings open in the panel on the right. The rows are read from the player itself. A 3D player controller carries Walk speed, Run speed, Jump height, Field of view, Look pitch limit and Look sensitivity.

Walk speed, Run speed and Jump height are the movement. Field of view, Look pitch limit and Look sensitivity are the camera: how wide the view is, how far up and down you can look, and how fast the view turns.

The movement half is not 3D-only — a player in a flat world walks, falls and jumps as well. What the panel holds there is that player's own set of numbers: walk and run speed, how long the body takes to reach a speed and to lose it, air control, gravity, jump apex, body size and step length. The look rows are not among them, because there is no look direction to set in a flat world. Its camera is framed instead by three rectangles Player controller draws on the 2D view — what is in view, the dead zone, and how far the view may scroll. Flockbay sets them when it builds the camera; drag their edges to change them yourself.

## Tune it by playing it

These are the settings most worth changing while actually moving. Movement that feels right in a screenshot often feels wrong at speed, and the only way to find out is to walk the world.

Change a row, then press Play, or Restart on the Game screen’s bar if the game is already running, and walk it again. Each change is kept in your project, and Ctrl+Z undoes it. Saying "the jump feels floaty" in the chat works too: Flockbay changes the same numbers.

> Player controller is in the tool column only when your world has a player. Flockbay adds one when the brief calls for it, or when you ask.
